Why Real Ear Measurements Matter When Fitting Hearing Aids

Not all hearing aid fittings are created equal! Even the most advanced hearing aids need to be properly programmed to provide the best possible benefit. That's where Real Ear Measurements (REM) come in.

Real Ear Measurements are considered the gold standard for hearing aid fittings. During this process, a tiny, soft tube is placed in your ear canal alongside your hearing aid to measure exactly how much sound is reaching your eardrum. Because everyone's ear canals are shaped differently, hearing aids programmed using manufacturer settings alone may not provide the appropriate amount of amplification for your individual hearing loss.

Using these measurements, we can make precise adjustments to ensure your hearing aids are providing the right amount of sound across different frequencies, helping improve speech clarity, audibility, and overall listening comfort.

At Ears in Bloom Audiology, we perform Real Ear Measurements as part of every hearing aid fitting. We believe that investing in hearing technology is only part of the equation—making sure that technology is properly fitted and verified is just as important.

Our goal isn't simply to help you hear more sound. It's to help you hear the sounds that matter most.
