Summer is filled with activities we look forward to all year—outdoor concerts, festivals, fireworks, sporting events, boating, and backyard projects. While these events can be a lot of fun, many of them also expose us to noise levels that can damage our hearing over time.

Noise-induced hearing loss occurs when the delicate sensory cells in the inner ear are damaged by loud sounds. Unlike a sunburn, hearing damage is often painless and can happen gradually, making it easy to overlook until communication becomes more difficult.

The good news is that hearing loss caused by noise exposure is largely preventable. Wearing hearing protection at concerts, fireworks displays, and while using power tools or lawn equipment can significantly reduce your risk. Modern hearing protection options, including custom-fit earplugs, allow you to enjoy the sounds around you while lowering the volume to a safer level.

This summer, make hearing protection part of your essentials alongside sunscreen and sunglasses. Taking simple steps today can help preserve your hearing for years to come.

If you'd like to learn more about custom hearing protection or have concerns about your hearing, contact Ears in Bloom to schedule an appointment.
